Environmental health exposures for women and children in Suriname
Dr. Jeffrey Wickliffe serves as the Chairperson and Professor in the Department of Environmental Health Sciences in the UAB School of Public Health. He also works as a senior scientist in the UWIRC Microbiome Center, O’Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center, and the Integrative Center for Aging Research in the UAB School of Medicine.

Dr. Wickliffe has published research on multiple health topics, both domestically and internationally, surrounding maternal and child health in the presence of environmental health exposures. His extensive and impressive work includes but is not limited to: oil spill exposure and birth outcomes among southern Louisiana women at the time of the Gulf oil spill, the cumulative risk of prenatal exposures to chemical and non-chemical stressors on birth outcomes in Suriname, & A cross-sectional survey of pregnant women & arsenic concentrations of household drinking water in Peru. He has also conducted experimental animal research examining genetic impacts of environmental radiation exposure at Chornobyl (Chernobyl), Ukraine.
